Chris and I are high school sweethearts. We went off to college together, and then got married in October 2005 after graduating from college. Our life pretty much revolves around each other, our long hair chihuahua, and as of a year ago running. Two Christmases ago I purchased a Garmin GPS watch. Once he figured out he could measure how far and fast he was running the competition was on.
I tried a few times to pick up running, but I kept having different leg pains that always made me stop. For a while I thought I was just not meant to run, but then I saw what great strides Chris was making. I had a real desire to challenge my body and see what I was made of too. As Chris growing leaps and bounds in his running, I began a mission to figure out how to get me on the road too. After many months with no luck and several races where I always ended up walking, I finally found my cure. The last week of December 2008 I began running, and just a week later Chris began training for his first full marathon.
Since the start of 2009 running has become our life, and something that we love doing together and alone. This past summer it became apparent that Chris was improving quickly. In August 2009 Chris ran an excellent half marathon and his new time put him comfortably in line for the possibility that he could run a 3:10 or better (which is what he needed to qualify for the Boston Marathon). After this race BQ fever was in the air.
This past October Chris ran his second ever marathon (only five months after he ran his first marathon), and qualified for the Boston Marathon with a time of 3:08. 8 months after I began a run/walk program I ran my first half marathon in 2:08 (and I enjoyed ever minute of it….as evidence in my pictures of me waving and smiling to the crowd). 2009 provided us with some amazing memories, and we look forward to the challenges that lay ahead in 2010.
This year you can expect to follow me as I make the jump from beginner runner…..well to something else just not sure what yet. The plan is to really train this year and see what kind of strides I can make in my speed. In addition, this fall I will be running my first ever full marathon which I am sure will be providing plenty of laughter. Chris will be hitting up two of the biggest marathons in the US this year, Boston and Chicago. Even though the Boston qualifying time has already been met, he is no were done with setting new running goals. 2010 will be the year to see how close or beyond Mr. Honaker can get to 2:59:59!
Thank you for taking the time to visit, and please feel free to share and comments or thoughts you may have along our journey……
Best wishes,
Stevi & Chris Honaker

I enjoyed reading your blog, and I am interested in a potential partnership. nSphere is developing a local search tool that I believe would be a good fit for your site. It would allow your visitors to connect to a rich source of relevant data while remaining on your site.
Do you have time to talk sometime this afternoon between 3 and 6 PM EST? Or, if you prefer, we have a Webex seminar on Tuesday at 5:00 PM EST.
Thanks,
Thom
